June 28. Cloudy and cool. At 5:30 the American mail steamer "Alameda" came into port and anchored. Sent boarding officer on board for mail – Received mail from J. – Dressed ship with request of "Tauranga", "Brutus" came alongside and we commenced coaling. At 12 fired a salute of 21 guns in honor of Coronation Day – "Alameda" went out at noon.

June 29. Clear and pleasant. At a late hour last evening, we were notified that the natives were fighting again. The "Torch" left at 2 AM to ascertain cause of disturbance. Coaling ship. Quit coaling at 5:30 –Wrote to J. 


June 30. Cloudy and pleasant. The "Torch" came in and anchored at 5:30 AM. Coaling from "Brutus" alongside. New Zealand Government ship came in flying Naval Resource flag (English). Usual boarding visits were made – Found out she brought New British Consul, Mr. Mair. Quit coaling at 5:30.
